Moscow's skyline is set to further expand with the approval of a new skyscraper designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
The project, named the Yury Dolgoruky Tower after the famous Russian prince, will be located right next door to the Moscow International Business Centre which is the largest investment and construction project in Russia.
The development is planned to be an exposition centre, hotel and residential space all rolled into one rather nice looking twin tower package standing at 57 floors and 52 floors.
The towers are set alongside a elongated base which will house the exposition space and three differently sized auditoriums which can be combined to form a large space big enough to seat 1500 people.
At the upper level of the exposition halls the sides cantilever creating a snow-free outdoor event space as well as concealing the traffic at the southern part of the building. The building is constructed from steel and has glazed facades which appear to be mirrored giving an almost fluid look to the project.
The towers sport the same look but their facades are punctuated with white concrete, curved balconies which have a retro look to them. Between the two towers sky bridges are suspended at different angles as if they have melted between the buildings. These will not only make access between the towers easier but also provides a warm cosy spot to go and admire the views across the city.
The towers sweep downwards to a huge main lobby that will create a elegant but grand social space but also allow for separate entrances to the hotel and residential elements of the towers. The hotel complex contain the usual stuff like a gym and spa, as well as many specialized restaurants, bistro cafes and shops so plenty for everyone to do.
With approval granted it shouldn’t be to long before work starts on the next addition to Moscow's blossoming skyline.
